Pulling an Upset or Just Handling Business?

Troy has its second win over a Power Five opponent in as many years following the Trojans’ 24-19 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Many aspects of the game and the reactions that followed were starkly similar to Troy’s win over ranked LSU last September.

Neal Brown and the Men of Troy were in complete control early on but needed a late interception to seal the victory in both games.

The nation was put on notice following the LSU win and the college football world was surprised to see it again against Nebraska.

While the flow of the games were similar, Troy’s win over Nebraska required a little more scrap.

The Trojans were hit with 10 flags and only amassed 253 yards of offense against the Huskers. Nebraska also had a decisive 22-12 advantage in first downs.

Yet, Troy held on.

The Huskers got a chance to meet Troy’s redzone defense, scoring touchdowns on just two of five trips.

Nebraska’s offense was undisciplined from the start, also getting flagged 10 times. One of those flags took six points off the board.

So, after getting outgained by a wide margin and being inefficient on offense, Troy walked into a sold out Memorial Stadium and took down Scott Frost’s Nebraska Cornhuskers.

No, national media, this isn’t a shocking upset.

It’s Troy football.
