Sun Belt Media Poll: Week Four
For most teams, the season is already a third of the way over. This is depressing. Name another sport that leaves its fans waiting for what feels like an eternity on a season that flies by so quickly. Nonetheless, with each passing week we learn a little bit more about who is real and who the pretenders are and this week was no different.
We had a pair of Sun Belt games this past Saturday, both coming down to the wire. It seems the voters have been convinced of one Teal-and-Black squad while the carousel at the top just keeps spinning.
Here is the post-week four media poll.
Team (1st Place votes) | Points |
1. Appalachian State (6) | 83 |
2. Troy (2) | 81 |
3. Arkansas State (1) | 75 |
4. Coastal Carolina | 57 |
5. Louisiana-Monroe | 53 |
6. Georgia Southern | 45 |
7. South Alabama | 39 |
8. Louisiana-Lafayette | 31 |
9. Georgia State | 15 |
10. Texas State | 12 |
Going Up
After wiping the floor with Gardner Webb 72-7, Appalachian State has reclaimed the top spot. The Mountaineers moved up two spots, but only needed four votes to do so. The true biggest mover was Coastal Carolina, who saw a 17 vote increase and moved to fourth from sixth. The Jaguars also moved up two spots after hanging tough with Memphis.
Going Down
Georgia Southern had a fairly unimpressive showing against Bye this week, at least in the eyes of the voters. The Eagles swapped with Coastal and lost 15 votes on the way down. Up the road, it looks like the bottom has fallen out for Georgia State early on. The Panthers have filled in for the Chants in the Sun Belt’s bottom tier.
