Kaleb Barker Seeks Redemption

In 2018, Barker was playing solid football until he got injured. The injury set him back, but he’s ready to go heading into fall camp. The Trojans’ quest for another Sun Belt title begins August 31st against Campbell. The senior is seeking his redemption chance after his injury last season.

Kaleb Barker’s Chance for Redemption

The Troy Trojans are primed to have another great season. Troy has talent on both sides of the ball. Barker is the leader of this offense and his leadership will be needed in 2019. Troy has a plethora of talented players on the offensive side.

Barker needs to put up solid numbers and be a true game manager for the offense to have success in 2019. Being able to hand the ball off to a great running back in B.J. Smith will accommodate Barker in a great way. His passing skills equipped with the running style should put Troy’s offense in a good position.

He finished 2018 with 10 passing touchdowns and two interceptions. Though he only played six games, Barker still put up good numbers. The quarterback also finished with the highest completion percentage in school history at 73 percent. He was on a quest for a monster season until going down against Georgia State. Barker also tied Troy’s single-game record with five touchdowns responsible for against Florida A&M.

If he can build upon those stats this year, the senior will have a good season. He could potentially finish as one of the best quarterbacks in Troy’s program history.

Opening the Passing Game

Kaleb Barker has many targets to throw to at wide receiver, starting with Tray Eafford. Eafford was a standout player in 2018 for the Trojans and provides Barker a speedy target. A couple of other potential targets are Khalil McClain and Reggie Todd, who join incumbent outside threat, Luke Whittemore. Both players are junior college transfers and in line for big roles this season. JUCO transfer Kaylon Geiger, who joined the team this summer, is another potential threat.

The talent surrounding the offense gives Barker a solid amount of options when passing the ball, which Barker will be doing plenty of in Lindsey’s offense.

Kaleb Barker: Senior Leader

The departure of Sawyer Smith entails that Barker is the main guy. Kaleb Barker has proven himself in that he can lead Troy as a true quarterback. If he can avoid injury, the senior can put up big numbers this year. Chip Lindsey’s first year at Troy could bring much success. It all starts with his quarterback in Kaleb Barker.

Barker’s success this season won’t come easy, though. His supporting cast, which features a number of new faces, will go a long way in determining how well the offense runs this year. Troy has the talent this season, but can they capitalize and build upon it? The season is right around the corner. Kaleb Barker is ready to take Troy to new heights and get his redemption after last year’s early ending.
